The Mililani Trojans have been a tough team for voters to figure out this season.
Ranked as high as No. 5 five weeks ago, the Trojans dropped to a season-low No. 10 last week. But wins over Campbell and Pearl City moved the Trojans into a first-place tie with the Sabers at 10-2 to end the OIA West season.
They are also tied in the latest Honolulu Star-Advertiser Baseball Top 10 with 43 votes apiece to share the No. 5 spot.
Baldwin remained the unanimous No. 1 team followed by Punahou and Saint Louis, which went 1-3 in a tournament hosted by Bishop Gorman last week in Las Vegas.
Waiakea jumped a spot to No. 4 ahead of the Trojans and Sabers, who split their two regular season games.
Mililani will begin the OIA tournament Thursday hosting the winner between Castle and Kapolei in the quarterfinals. Campbell will host the winner between Waianae and Farrington.
Undefeated Division II team Kamehameha-Hawaii, which owns a win over Waiakea this season, is No. 7 ahead of ‘Iolani by a single vote. The Raiders play the third-ranked Crusaders in an ILH tournament game this afternoon at Goeas Field.
Kamehameha, which shut out Mid-Pacific 1-0 on Saturday thanks to Kelena Sauer‘s two-hitter, is No. 9 followed by Maui.
The Sabers are ranked in the top 10 for the first time this year.
St. Francis fell out of the top 10 after losing 9-8 in nine innings to Damien in the ILH Division II tournament. The Saints were ranked No. 9 last week for the first time ever.
They did receive five votes while Kailua (four), Kaiser (two) and the Owls (two) also received votes.
