A series of clinics covering on- and off-field topics for baseball players, parents and coaches is set for this weekend at Farrington High School at Mid-Pacific Institute.
Kado Baseball will host its Hawaii Grown Instructional Baseball Camp starting Friday at Farmington and continuing Saturday and Sunday at MPI. Instructors will include former MPI standout Donny Kadokawa and Waiakea graduate Kainoa Correa, an infield instructor in the Cleveland Indians organization. The cost of the camp is $159 for position players and $129 for pitching only.
Correa, a former coach at Northern Colorado, and Ryan Thompson, a college baseball advisor with SportsForce, will also hold a college recruiting seminar at 9 a.m. Saturday at MPI. Players and parents are invited to the free session which will address various topics related to the recruiting process.
A free clinic for parents and coaches at all levels covering coaching techniques will also be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.
“We’re trying to educate the coaches and parents for the younger leagues so that they can understand what they need to do so the kids can get better and get more excited with baseball and want to continue on,” Kadokawa said. “We’re trying to cover all bases. That’s us just wanting to give back to the local kids and the community and educating them.”
Kado Baseball also has a camp for players ages 8-11 set for Dec. 27-28 and another for players ages 12-14 (up to grade 8) on Dec. 29-30.
