Twelve of the 14 state football tournament spots have been clinched.
Seven teams — No. 1 Saint Louis, No. 3 Mililani, No. 5 Kahuku, Hilo, Waipahu, Kamehameha-Hawaii and Kapaa — punched their ticket into states with victories last weekend. Five teams — No. 6 Lahainaluna, No. 7 ‘Iolani, Roosevelt, Kaimuki Pac-Five — previously wrapped up state spots.
No. 5 Campbell squares off against Farrington on Friday in the OIA Open third-place game for the last state Open Division slot. On the same night, Maui and Baldwin play for the MIL Division I title and the final state D-I spot.

*-On the field, St. Francis finished 8-0 in ILH Division II, but forfeited eight wins due to an ineligible player. Pac-Five took over the state berth after going 3-5 and finishing 4-4 after the forfeit win over St. Francis.
Aww,asterisk **on pac5 and st.fran. no need for that.
I’ll make this easy. No way Farrington beats campbell. And Baldwin wins because win is their last name.
Something I don’t get. If StLouis is #1 and Mililani is #3, who is #2?
Something that i dont get is Punahou is a #2 rank team, and they are in the state tourny? SMH. They need to get it right, i dont see how a team with only 2 wins are still able to make the state tournament if they beat campbell this week. Shame on hawaii high school football.
If the ILH had 4 teams in then they would take 2 but 2out of 3 is 66% compared to 3 out of 6from oia(50%)..either way it wont ever be perfect or close to it…4 teams ilg vs 4 teams oia for open division then top 2 from each go to states would be fairest
If Punahou is 7-3 and Kahuk u is 7-3, and Kahuk u beat Punahou by 2 td+, then that is the tiebreaker and Kahuk u should be rank higher.
In the Open Division, qualifying should be determined by rankings NOT by League Affiliation. It was ok when they were separate, playing in their separate leagues, but now they all play the same teams. Regardless of league, the top 4 ranked teams in the Open Division should be in the State Tournament! FYI, I have no affiliation with the ILH, I just believe in fairness.
If i was OIA schools, I would be scared to play St.Louis!
St. Louis in Hawai’i state football is like the Alabama of the NCAA. They are a machine and no real local competition. They should be given the option to opt out of the state title as with all the upper level state HS around the country and play for regional titles
I can see where one could develop a regional playoff series that leads to a semifinal and the finals. It would probably be equivalent in season (length) to the NCAA. But, let’s face it, most the boys playing for these schools will end up in those top NCAA programs anyway.
@Kamehameha #!
I would be scared to play St.Louis!
Just showed your TRUE colors!
I hope you never played football with that frame of mind. I don’t care how many RECRUITS STL Academy get, I would NEVER be scared to play them.
Farney is a Barney cuz Baldwin lost
