Two-time defending state champion Saint Louis is ranked No. 14 in the first USA Today Super 25 that was partly released on Monday.
USA Today released teams 11-25 with the Top 10 coming on Tuesday.
The Crusaders, who have won 16 games in a row dating back to a midseason loss to Punahou in 2016, are No. 12 in the nation according to MaxPreps.
Saint Louis faces its biggest test of the season in terms of national rankings on Friday night at Aloha Stadium when it plays Narbonne (Calif.) in a rematch of last year’s 56-50 win by the Crusaders.
The Gauchos, who are ranked No. 24 by MaxPreps, won the 1A California state championship last season and had three players sign with Pac-12 schools.
Cornerback Mykael Wright, the No. 37 overall prospect according to 247 Sports, and offensive tackle Jonah Tuanu’u, ranked No. 60, have both committed to Oregon from the Gauchos for the class of 2019.
