It should be a fun weekend of football as the OIA Division I playoffs begin while the ILH regular season ends and the OIA D-II playoff race gets sorted out.
No. 3 Saint Louis (5-1, 4-1) has had eight days to recover from a 33-30 loss to Punahou last Thursday and get prepared for No. 10 Kamehameha (3-4, 2-3). The Crusaders won the first meeting this season 35-3 and can finish in a first-place tie with Punahou with a victory against the Warriors. A loss would put Kamehameha in real danger of suffering its first losing season since 1992.
HISTORY: Saint Louis leads 65-28-2 in the Prep Bowl and state championship eras. The Crusaders have won five in a row.

Warriors start on their 20. Holding call forces second-and-21 from the 9. Third-and-18 and a defensive PI is called on a short crossing route. Now third-and-3 as there is no automatic first down. Handoff to Brayden Miyamoto who picks up 7 and a first down up the middle. Matthew Aio picks up his first catch for 21 yards and then Onyx Freitas with his first reception for 22 yards to the 19. A defensive holding call moves the ball to the 12. Second-and-3. Third-and-3 pass goes to Shannon for 2 yards with Saint Louis LB Noa Purcell stopping him short. Shannon hurt on the play. Shannon has to be helped off by two trainers slowly. Looks like an ankle, perhaps. Fourth-and-1 at the 10. Handoff to Breden Akima who gets through the first tackler and picks up 2 and a first down. Chandler Washington-Villanueva with his first catch for 12 yards and Tagovailoa runs for 13 to the 9. Second-and-goal from the 6 and Nakoa Pauole gets his second sack of Tagovailoa to back up the Crusaders to the 12. Same route and throw to Washington-Villanueva and Tagovailoa squeezes it in a tight window for a 12-yard TD pass. 21-7, 9:50.
THIRD QUARTER
Crusaders continue to own the field position and start in Kamehameha territory at the 40. Tagovailoa has about two defenders touching his ankles but he breaks away and he is GONE. 40-yard TD run….NO. Flag comes out way downfield. Block in the back on Saint Louis. END quarter.
Warriors start from own 8 and it’s quick third-and-7. Kahunahana with the catch for no gain as Saint Louis has figured out that play. Three-and-out. Game has turned into quite a defensive battle.
Hoku Arias and Andrew Aleki stop Dylan Silva for no gain to force third-and-5. Tagovailoa goes quick to Young on a 3-yard reception but it’s fourth-and-2 and Saint Louis will punt.
Kamehameha starts on the 1. Yam to Kahunahana for 11 yards to get out of deep in its own territory. DB Kama Moore gets his hand on a post route that if he doesn’t knock down, may have been six. Third-and-10 at the Kamehameha 13. Timeout Warriors. Kaha’i Auld with a huge sack of Yam and Kamehameha punts from its own end zone.
Big gainer for Tagovailoa as he picks up 27 yards on the run inside Kamehameha territory. Saint Louis is really struggling to get any of its receivers open and has to call timeout on second-and-9 from the Kamehameha 33. Saint Louis with more rushing yards (148) than passing yards (111) at the 6:38 mark of the third quarter. You don’t see that much with the Crusaders. Out of the timeout, Tagovailoa takes a shot to the end zone and it’s picked off by Kalamaku Kuewa. Ball spotted at the 1. Fourth INT in three games for Tagovailoa, who has been picked off in three straight games for the first time in his career.
After a 2-yard run by Shannon, Cabunoc with an out-and-up route and he gets behind the defense but again Yam overthrows a TD by about a half-step. Cabunoc nearly makes the diving catch. Third-and-8 and Yam escapes out of trouble and fires over the middle and it’s either broken up or dropped. Couldn’t tell. Warriors miss an opportunity there.

The Warriors nearly sack Tagovailoa again and force an incomplete pass with tight coverage down the field. Kamehameha’s sideline is pumped as it’s third-and-19. Tagovailoa has missed his last five throws after starting 4-for-5. Saint Louis will punt.
Warriors on Saint Louis 38. Shannon carries twice for 3 yards. On third-and-12 after a penalty, Yam with a nice deep ball to Cabunoc who catches it as he is falling to the turf for a big 44-yard gain. Third-and-9 for Kamehameha. Kamehameha starts on its 30. Kanoa Shannon gets two nice runs for 18 yards but the drive stalls out at midfield and Kamehameha punts on fourth-and-4 at the Saint Louis 46.
Saint Louis is whistled for a delay of game and then Tagovailoa is held to a 3-yard run. Saint Louis punts for the first time.
FIRST QUARTER
Saint Louis will begin on its 39. Tagovailoa hits Leelan Oasay for 27 yards to set up third-and-6 after two holding calls to end the quarter.
Another three-and-out by Kamehameha as the Warriors simply can’t block the Crusaders’ pass rush up front.
