No. 1-ranked Kamehameha is off to a strong start at the Durango Fall Classic in Las Vegas.
The Warriors opened play today in the prestigious annual girls volleyball tournament with a 25-19, 25-10 sweep of Village Christian (Calif.). Then, they defeated powerhouse Archbishop Mitty (Calif.) 25-18, 24-26, 25-17. Their final match was a 25-9, 25-2 win over Rim of the World (Calif.) to finish 3-0 in pool play.
Also playing is ‘Iolani, the No. 2 team in the Star-Advertiser Girls Volleyball Top 10. The Raiders defeated Pleasant Grove (Utah) 25-22, 25-18; Teurlings Cathlolic (La.) 25-23, 25-21; and Bishop Manogue (Nev.) 25-18, 25-7.
Bracket play will begin Saturday at 5:30 a.m.
The Warriors are currently ranked No. 14 in the nation by USA Today. ‘Iolani is ranked No. 16 in the same poll.
